JOB DESCRIPTION

Report to the Tax Manager, work closely with Accounting and Finance, and be an active member of the Tax team.  Be responsible for actively participating in management of issues related to state income tax regulation and compliance, state income tax return preparation, and lead nexus review and response to state income tax audits for all business units. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Actively participate in management of state income tax regulatory and compliance issues
  • Perform income tax submissions for separate and unitary state income tax return filings, including internal analysis and preparation of apportionment schedules, state depreciation records, separate state tax credit calculations, and all state income tax adjustments and conformance with federal tax filings
  • Prepare partnership tax returns and prepare state income tax quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Manage, update, and ensure compliance with SOX 404 controls and testing for all state compliance areas
  • Prepare and maintain state income tax registration and compliance tax calendar
  • Collaborate with the tax accounting team regarding state inputs for preparation of periodic tax accounting provision
  • Determine and manage the state income tax ASC 740-10 (FIN 48) analysis and support
  • Manage all state and local income tax examinations including communications, information document request response preparation, and related inquiries
  • Perform continuous nexus review and evaluation of impact to nexus by changes in business operations or business environment
  • Collaborate with the tax team members on technical research and planning projects
  • Perform technical research and strategic planning regarding state implications of M&A activities; maximize state tax credits and incentives
  • Assure current awareness of state legislative activities, and respective impact on company
  • Perform periodic state and local tax account reconciliations
  • Prepare and present to management value-add analytics

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years state and local tax compliance experience in a service industry environment
  • CPA (or documented progress toward certification) and experience working as employee of a CPA firm
  • Significant experience with tax research software
  • Proven ability to proactively develop professional skills
  • U.S. and international travel less than 5%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MTx
  • Experience with ASC 740 and knowledge of ASC 740-10 (FIN 48) provisions
  • Experience with ERP and compliance software
  • M&A experience

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
