Position Description

The Data Governance & Quality Managing Director will lead in the establishment of the Enterprise Data Governance & Quality team as part of the greater Enterprise Risk Management team reporting to Risk Management Executive. The primary objectives of the Data Governance and Data Quality Leader: implementation of best in class Data Governance and Data Quality dashboard and framework, creation and advancement of best practices for governance and quality management of all bank data, oversight of the execution and adoption of the aforementioned resources across all bank data and the establishment of a cohesive Data Modeling practice. The Lead will also work directly with C Suite and line of business executives to formulate strategies for Master Data concepts and guide the implementation of them in the appropriate internal systems.




  1. Deliver subject matter expertise while establishing process, procedures and best practices.
  2. Implement training for and monitor adoption of data governance stage by distributed data management groups.
  3. Recruit, construct and lead a high performing data governance & quality operational team.
  4. Launch standards for data necessary to be captured to enable governance of business terms, fields, ownership and stewardship.
  5. Produce systematic reporting of metrics for senior executives and prioritization of data domains for governance.
  6. Establish governance metrics and scorecards for completeness of meta-data, including feedback from stakeholder parties into scoring methods.
  7. Create workflow for meta-data review and approval including business term formation, domain creation, assignment of owners and agents, etc.
  8. Work closely with senior most Risk executives on roadmap items for execution.


Essential Skill Set for the Data Governance & Quality Managing Director


  1. Proven understanding of Master Data Management processes and policies is highly desired.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage deliveries to a timeline while negotiating deliverables with key partners.
  3. Proficiency with Excel, Access and MSSQL is desired.
  4. 8 or more years financial industry experience with relevant experience working either directly in a data management, regulatory reporting or operational project team is preferred.
  5. Demonstrated aptitude for mentoring and guiding others within a small team environment.
  6. Working knowledge of data governance, data quality and data lineage concepts are compulsory.
  7. Working knowledge of Meta-Data or Data Lineage tools such is highly preferred.
  8. Working knowledge of a Business Process Management tool is a plus.
  9. Comfortable working both independently and on a team.
  10. Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree a plus.
