Reliability Engineering & Maintenance Manager

Position Summary:

The Maintenance and Reliability Manager is a collaborative Subject Matter Expert who leads the Reliability Engineering Program and Maintenance Operations Work Management Process. The role is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all mechanical integrity and maintenance activities. This role will have the responsibility for managing a multi-milliondollar budget, direct and indirect reports, total maintenance productivity and reinforcing a lean culture. This role will also interface and coordinate with other members of the plant leadership team to enable the achievement of performance goals and growth.



  • Provides strategic insight to the site on annual operating plan (AOP) process, Strategic Plan (STRAP) and capital budget and develops department AOP goals
  • Interacts with operations and supply chain to ensure ability to meet/exceed customer requirements
  • Advocate for and participate in advancing lean operating system
  • Optimizes the utilization of plant resources and drives world class levels of equipment uptime
  • Champions 6 six sigma initiatives; provides support and required resources to meet improvement goals


  • Provides oversight to all maintenance and reliability engineering functions
  • Accountable for driving maintenance excellence and reliability improvements throughout the organization
  • Identifies, develops and implements innovative solutions that address reliability issues
  • Develops and progresses reliability programs to improve uptime across all plant equipment
  • Develops programs and policies for auditing and refining preventative/predictive maintenance programs
  • Drives a risk-based reliability program, using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant Engineering Degree
  • 10 years manufacturing experience related to maintenance and reliability engineering in a chemical plant
  • 5 years experience in managing professionals as well as in a union environment
  • Strong knowledge of continuous chemical manufacturing-based maintenance


Additional Qualifications:

  • Background experience in PSM
  • Six Sigma Certified – Preferred
  • Experience with SAP or CMMS preferred
  • Previous experience with preparation and management of large plant budgets
  • Background experience with optimizing in-house and contract maintenance
