* Set objectives and strategies for the IT department and ensure all systems necessary to support operations and objectives are in place

* Selecting and implementing suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize strategic benefits

* Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience

* Keep up to date with advancements in the field

* Plan the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization

* Approve purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with IT providers

* Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance

* Direct and organize IT-related projects

* Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the organization can gain competitive advantage

* Analyze the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions

* Other tasks as assigned


* Degree in Computer Science, engineering or relevant field

* Related IT certifications an asset

* Proven experience as a CIO or similar managerial role

* Excellent knowledge of IT system architecture, including technology infrastructure, data, and applications

* Background in designing / developing IT systems and planning IT implementation

* Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations

* Understand best practices for operating systems, databases, applications, etc.

* Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with IT and other organizational personnel

* Working knowledge of security frameworks and standards

* Able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information

* Experience conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, leading audit reviews, developing project plans, leading cross-functional teams

* Leadership skills

* Strategic and business acumen

* Superior analytical and problem solving capabilities
