We are seeking a Medical Director dedicated exclusively to TennCare LTSS programs and services, and the populations served in LTSS programs, including frail elderly, adults with physical disabilities, and people of any age with intellectual or developmental disabilities. 


The LTSS Medical Director shall oversee and be responsible for all primary and physical health services provided to individuals receiving LTSS, and to comparable populations enrolled in TennCare, and all clinical activities pertaining to the operation of LTSS programs and services, to ensure the appropriate and most cost effective medical care is received.   


The Medical Director shall also be responsible the integration of physical and behavioral health services and supports and LTSS, as applicable, and oversee the quality improvement initiatives as needed.



Additional duties include: 

  • Interprets existing policies and develops new policies based on changes in the healthcare or medical arena. 
  • Leads, develops, directs and implements clinical and non-clinical activities that impact health care quality cost and outcomes. 
  • Identifies and develops opportunities for innovation to increase effectiveness and quality.  
  • Serves as a resource and consultant to other areas of the company, may chair or serve on company committees, may be required to represent the company to external entities and/or serve on external committees, conduct peer clinical and/or appeal case reviews and peer to peer clinical reviews with attending physicians or other ordering providers to discuss review determinations, provides guidance for clinical operational aspects of the program.  
  • Supports the medical management staff ensuring timely and consistent responses to members and providers.




  •  M.D. or D.O. and the preferred candidate will be Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Geriatrics and Palliative Care. 
  • Must possess an active unrestricted medical license to practice medicine or a health profession in the State of Tennessee and have at least ten (10) years’ clinical experience, including at least five (5) years’ experience in directing health care services for frail elderly or adults with physical disabilities, or people of any age with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This position is based in Tennessee, with a preference for Nashville, attending key internal and external meetings in person, as needed.
