A well know company specializing in glass in Midland is looking for an accountant that can learn and grow within the company.


·    Assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Finance/Controlling Department including budget/forecast variance and analysis, Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions (insofar not handled by Shared Services) and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with SCHOTT Finance policies and procedures,  Perform the processing and recording of accounts receivable transactions and misc. sales transactions (insofar not handled by Shared Services) and ensure timely creation and recording thereof. Analyze payments differences and liaise with Shared Services and other local departments (Sales, SCM) to ensure payment of overdue amounts, Prepare accounting and month-end related journal entries, Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all Finance/Controlling transactions, Maintain monthly detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts,  Prepare documentation for external auditors and external institutions (like the government, insurance companies, Statistics Canada),  Assist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements and answer accounting and controlling questions by researching into and interpreting data,  Prepare monthly reports and provide explanations to the stakeholders on any variance thereof,  Reporting on fixed assets: spent versus budget/forecast. Maintain CIP details. Ensure the completeness of the fixed assets register. Organize and participate in the annual fixed assets inventory, Assist in any (ad-hoc) analysis as requested by the Controller and/or CFO


A minimum of 4+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment 

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment, Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations and systems of internal control; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations,  Knowledge of SyteLine as ERP-software is a plus,  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, Be able to demonstrate attention to details and good-record-keeping;·    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel), Hands-on detail-oriented tasks,  Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization, High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy, Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs, Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
