Job Description - Accountant Operations/Cost statements

.

Summary: This position will perform accounting and financial support responsibilities for two plants. The position will also have capital analysis and responsibilities.

• Prepare closing work papers; make journal entries, complete cost statements for two plants during closing cycle.
• Prepare budgets, review budget proposals, forecasts, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
• Analyze, prepare explanations of variances from budgets, forecasts, and other benchmarks for two plants.
• Serve as financial consultant to plant management for two plants. Provide analysis in support of operations.
• Lead internal control program and interact with internal and external auditors on audit issues at the site.
• Provide monthly reports and process capital spending documentation.
• Modify, create, and automate processes to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent education and experience.
• 4 – 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Cost accounting experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment

Preferred:

• MBA
• 10 years of experience in accounting and/or finance.
• 5-10 years of operational experience.
• CPA/CMA certificate is a plus.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be

• PC proficient
• The ability to quickly master skills required to function with expertise in JD Edwards Enterprise One.
• Must be proficient in MS Office applications.

Competencies:

Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant operations. Good knowledge of reporting.

Skills: Demonstrated solid accounting skills. Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Excel and mainframe accounting ERP and/or accounting applications.
