JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
Tax Consultation and Advisory Services related to the structuring and long-term planning of investment and operating entities
Review individual and entity tax returns and associated workpapers prepared internally and externally
Prepare and review GAAP and cash basis financials for operating and portfolio companies
Liaise with audit and tax teams from multiple firms/service providers
Review administrator NAV packages and performance reporting; provide feedback as necessary
Calculate waterfall distributions, IRR, and preferred returns for multiple investment deals
Respond to IRS and State tax correspondence; work with agencies to resolve outstanding issues and/or debtsFinancial Statement preparation and review
Manage 1 mid-level Tax & CFO professional along with being a leader in a team of 16 CFO professionals
Provide Operational support for clients
Establish of accounting practices
Accounting principles and issues research, as needed
Assist in evaluating current financial and accounting process for new clients, propose improvements and help coordinate implementation efforts
Perform research for litigation support services, operational due diligence, and other projects
Service provider recommendations and vetting
Assist in the creation of brokerage and bank accounts
Review of service provider contracts and fund documents
Assistance with onboarding processes at brokers, administrators, and others
Operational support including daily reconciliation and shadow accounting (extensive knowledge of the reconciliation process is a must)
Review of management company financial statements
Calculation of management fees and incentive allocation
Expense tracking and approvals
Liaison with the external auditors, administrator, HR/payroll, and other service providers
Advise clients on various issues as they arise
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
About 8-10 years of Tax and accounting, operational and financial experience in the in alternative investment management industry (Hedge Fund, Private Equity)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
CPA or MBA is a plus
Must have attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Hard-working, dedicated, punctual and personable
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Strong accounting and analytical skills
Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
Passionate about working in a dynamic startup environment
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to solve problems — quickly and competently
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to organize and present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
Product knowledge (equities, fixed income, derivatives) is a must
Education:
University - Master's Degree
