Director of Business Development
• Infrastructure Services – Electricity Networks – Poles and Wires
• Regional Responsibility QLD NSW VIC TAS
• Attractive $200,000 to $250,000 p.a. Package (Includes Bonus)
Business development professional to drive growth by winning contracts with existing and new Electricity Networks / Utility customers. Reporting to the MD, you will be a vital member of the Executive team, lead two Business Development Managers, and get close to existing and potential customers.
The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a major US company. This key role underpins their growth strategy for Australia. They specialise in providing Infrastructure Services to major Electrical Networks, i.e. asset management, structured maintenance, upgrades, pole remediation and replacement, structural assessment, corrosion control etc. Thorough analysis and inspection data lead to optimised asset health.
You will report to the Managing Director for Australia, who will mentor your progress and development in the company. You will travel to the USA for training and establish relationships with the US Sales Team. The nature of this role lends itself to you being based remotely from head office; you can work from home anywhere in NSW or VIC to access major Electricity Network Organisations in Eastern Australia.
Your challenge is growth. After reviewing the current business development strategy, plans and processes, recommend and agree on necessary changes and sales forecasts with the executive team. Core operational elements of this role include,
• Management of two BD Managers
• Create relationships with contacts inside each utility at various levels, including senior-level executives.
• Create sales plans and schedules, Initiate and conduct sales calls and presentations
• Provide support on generating leads for acquisitions and negotiating M&A.
• Coordinate with Operations as needed to maintain existing accounts/projects.
• Advise the Contracts Team on proposal development and pricing
You have been in a similar role, experienced in multi-level selling to electric utilities in Australia, engaging in complex sales and selling longer-term service programs. You have a track record of expanding services into existing accounts and winning new customers.
You are an expert in responding to RFPs and understand contract language and terminology. You are highly effective in selling to and interacting with all levels of an account up to the board level. Your referees can attest to your leadership and self-motivation qualities and your ability/aptitude to coach and mentor other sales professionals.
Significant business travel will be necessary to meet and build relationships with customers and prospects.
