Located 40 minutes south of San Jose, California for a $6B Organic Food & Beverage CPG company.  Looking for Accounting Supervisors out of Manufacturing (dealing with raw materials) or from one of Big Accounting Firms working on the manufacturing sector (KPMG, Deloitte, PWC) or other Food & Beverage or CPG Manufacturing companies looking for more work life balance where they can still grow and work in locations like California, Colorado, New York & Paris, France. 

Minimum 5-7 years progressive Accounting experience. Will train on Grower accounting skills including grower return settlements.  Must have experience supervising direct reports. Will supervise a group of grower accounting clerks or specialists.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Grower Accounting Supervisor is responsible for maintaining department databases for raw product, finished product, and other databases utilized by the department to ensure accurate and timely payments to suppliers and vendors. This position has direct interaction with our Growing Partners, internal Supply Management team, and other outside Business Partners. This role includes supervising and directing the work of six Grower Accounting Clerks or Specialists.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Review and organize accounting and reporting systems for Grower Accounting

• Review and approve grower, harvester and cooler payables and other related payments and process in SAP
• Review harvester/cooler databases for accuracy
• Prepare and process weekly receipts and sales databases for grower reporting
• Review and approve wire payments and payment proposals and obtain appropriate approvals and submit to Corporate to process
• Prepare and report and pay assessments to various agencies
• Prepare paperwork and communicate billing of rents
• Assist in reconciliation and processing of season recaps (and lot liquidations) and growing deals at the conclusion of each season.
• Prepare, review and approve month-end close journal entries and accruals.
• Supervise a team of six Grower Accounting Specialists.
• Proactively look for and suggest ways to improve all processes surrounding grower settlement returns, charges and general accounting.
• Assist in periodic internal/external audit process
• Perform account reconciliations and financial analysis of grower accounts as needed. Be prepared to assist with GL fluctuations.
• Work with SAP and testing or suggesting improvements as appropriate.
• Special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required.
• Assist others in the department with duties and supervision as needed, including audit of accounts payable documents for commission product and bulk payments.
• Assist in setup and preparation of Excel Commission Settlement/Bulk Statements as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Minimum 5-7 years progressive Accounting experience.  Will train on Grower accounting experience including grower return settlements.
• SAP experience a plus but not required.
• Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or other related field, or progressive, related experience.
• Significant experience and competence with Excel (advanced skills), Word and Outlook. Ability to develop and analyze data spreadsheets a MUST. Familiarity with general accounting software required.
