I/T Director – Construction  - Enterprise ERP

The Position Summary:  The IT Director reports to the CFO and has direct reports of the Manager of I/T Infrastructure and the 4 members of the I/S team.   The director is responsible for the development and execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy, ensuring its alignment with the company business strategy, and the delivery of technology capabilities required to support the business.   The IT Director brings current knowledge and future vision to leverage information and technology in business model design, business capability performance re-engineering, product and service development, and support for developing competitive advantage.

Primary Responsibilities: 

 IT Leadership, Strategy, and Planning

• Stay abreast of relevant new and developing technologies and their business application

• Develop, recommend, and implement IT strategies, plans, and programs including those related to enterprise architecture,  application management, security and risk management, organizational structure and governance, infrastructure, and operations support management

• Drive innovation, creative solutions, and culture change in support of digital business transformation

• Contribute to the development of enterprise technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics as a value-add service to the enterprise

 IT Risk Management

• Assess IT risk and develop risk mitigation strategies, including cyber security incident response, IT disaster recovery, and business continuity planning

• Contribute to the management of business risk through the effective design, delivery, and management of IT capabilities to support enterprise objectives

IT Service Delivery Management

• Manage IT budgets to ensure consistency with agreed strategies, plans, and programs

• Put processes and controls in place to safeguard the implementation and maintenance of business-critical systems and infrastructure, including the provision of IT Help Desk services

• Ensure that all IT services are delivered in a reliable, sustainable, cost effective, secure, and agile manner

• Ensure that IT services support changing business objectives, goals, and strategies

• Utilize benchmarking and KPIs to measure IT effectiveness and track progress

Communications and Relationship Building

• Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, business unit leaders, team members, vendors, and consultants

• Act as a trusted advisor to ensure executive leaders can make informed decisions about the application of information and technology

• Employ influencing, collaboration, and negotiation strategies to enable cost-effective and innovative solutions to business objectives across the organization

Employee Development

• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the IT leadership team and staff

• Partner with HR and look for innovative solutions to the recruitment, development, and retention of an IT workforce with the appropriate mix of business knowledge, technical skills, and competencies

• Ensure that employees have the necessary tools and work environment to feel engaged and be productive and effective

• Enhance the IT department’s capabilities by leveraging internal and external resources, as appropriate



 • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT related field

• Fifteen years or more experience in progressively higher roles of responsibility in IT

• Five or more years of experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs with an emphasis on cloud-based ERP systems with technology such as Infor, Spectrum, Global Shop Solutions, and Sage in a Microsoft environment including Sharepoint, Office 365, and Azure.

• Experience with large, complex and/or transformational initiatives, taking advantage of digital opportunities to support business

• Experience in developing and communicating a vision that inspires and motivates staff and instills confidence with peers and key stakeholders

• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills

• Strong business acumen a must

• Exposure to the construction sector preferred

• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an engaged and effective team, leveraging external resources to enhance team capabilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex digital concepts and technologies in simple to understand terms

University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
