JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently searching for a Director of Mechanical Operations – Special Projects to oversee various field sites within the GTA.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the strategic aspects of Special Projects and Tenant projects within the Mechanical scope to mitigate risk
  • Oversees a team of Project Managers to give direction, feedback, leadership, guidance and vision to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget while satisfying the needs to customers/owners
  • Review high-level deliverables across the department/group
  • Conduct performance reviews, sets goals, and objectives to align with personal aspirations, growth and the organization goals and objectives
  • Develops, implements, and maintains sound business practices
  • Develops and implements strategic objectives for practice that are aligned with the Companies objectives
  • Sources out new opportunities and growth areas for new business
  • Excellent at growing long-term relationships with clients and capitalizes on equity and partnership opportunities
  • Communicates department requirements to ensure the Company is providing a quality service with excellent TAT and results
  • Perform additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Project Manager
  • Experience in mechanical contracting with a focus on projects less than 5 million in scope
  • Proven track record for productivity, profitability and cost analysis
  • Experience leading a group of Managers within the Construction industry
  • Educational background in Mechanical Engineering or Project Management or equivalent
  • Previous experience working within a retrofit environment is an asset
  • Excellent Communication and leadership skills to provide clear direction
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and change management
  • Strong Computer skills related to the Construction/Mechanical Industry
  • Able to develop and manage detailed work plans, project schedules, estimates and resource plans in conjunction with project members
  • Establish key project metrics and take appropriate action to manage accordingly
  • Technical background expertise in scheduling and costing utilizing Primavera and Microsoft Project
  • Moderate physical effort due to field construction sites.
  • Vehicle travel to sites, ability to walk in construction terrain is required
