Great opportunity to join the leadership team with a global manufacturer with NA operations (<$15M) in Grand Rapids, MI. The group is a leading manufacturer of products in the industrial space and and is seeking a strong Accounting Manager / Controller to back-fill their current Manager, who will be retiring this summer. The bulk of the role will be focused on financial tasks but this role will also have responsibility for Human Resources (more administrative – benefits, payroll, etc.). Will have a staff of one.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Prepares P&L budgets, planned investments, and main changes in the balance sheet, and make recommendations on how to finance the assets. Consolidates the financial statements to the corporate team.
  • Ensures that the workflow of accounting, invoicing to customers and payment to suppliers is efficiently done, minimizing bureaucracy.
  • Prepares reports that analyze main deviations in P&L figures vs previous year and vs budget. Makes proposals for improving the company results.
  • Controls bank account conciliation, overdue customer payments, controls customer risk (exceeding the parts insured by insurance companies) valuation of stocks (both in cost and quantities), tangible/intangible/financial assets, cash discounts to suppliers, cash discounts to customers, controls petty cash, and oversee payroll.
  • Plans internal and external audits. Prepares action plans to meet the auditors’ recommendations.
  • Performs monthly and year-end closings.
  • Oversees company technical systems, like IT, telephone…etc.
  • Responsible for drafting, revising and implementing the human resource management policy.
  • Responsible for reviewing benefit plans, payroll, and the administrative side of onboarding  new employees.
  • Member of the Quality Commitee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 
  • 5+ years in Accounting
  • 5+ years experience with month end close, internal and external audit preparation
  • Manufacturing experience is required

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
