Accounting and Operations Associate - Las Vegas, Nevada

SCOPE OF POSITION
We are looking for an Accounting and Operations Associate to join the investment arm of a prominent family office. The office supports the activities of a single family with several generations of family clients, including operating businesses and affiliated entities, trusts, foundations and nonprofit organizations. The overall staff consists of approximately 55 employees, of which 15 are in the Las Vegas office with the balance in other offices and residences. The Accounting and Operations Associate role will report to the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Daily monitoring of investment portfolio positions at multiple custodians/managers
• Process daily trades and cash transactions in the portfolio accounting system and data warehouse
• Book and summarize monthly non trading accruals and reversals
• Monitor and process corporate actions including dividends, stock splits, tender offers, and taxable and non-taxable reorganizations.
• Monitor and process bank debt activity including rate resets, pay downs, PIKs and reorganizations
• Perform daily cash and position reconciliations to custodians and investment managers including identifying, preventing, & resolving any discrepancies and day to day issues.
• Assist in maintaining the portfolio accounting system including proper booking of transactions and journal entries
• Assist in the preparation of internal reporting packages on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis
• Prepare month end reconciliations to custodians/managers’ official statements and final monthly NAV.
• Assist in the closing of investment portfolios and determination of monthly NAV in Advent Geneva.
• Assist in the closing of management company books and records and intercompany reconcilaitions.
• Contribute to internal technology project initiatives including development, testing and implementation.
• Prepare and review procedures as well as streamline current processes.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Four year degree, Accounting/Finance major required
• Basic accounting knowledge is required and experience working with financial statements and accounting systems is preferred
• Experience working in a professional office is preferred but not required

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Ability to be highly confidential
• Organized and self-motivated
• Proficient in Excel, SQL experience a plus
• Knowledge of Fund Accounting a plus
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond in a timely manner
