JOB DESCRIPTION

* Assist the Chief Engineer in the supervision and controls of the efficient operation of the Power House and its related equipment, for the purposes of controlling refrigeration systems, steam systems, heating water, controlling HVAC systems, and all utility feeds throughout the facility

* Coordinate all aspects of the plant’s environmental aspects including the water, waste-water, environmental management system and regulatory reporting and liaison

* Assist with daily operations of the Power House & Waste Water Treatment Plant

* Monitor water testing, environmental spills and other logs daily and act and/or direct the workforce as required

* Maintain the plant’s Environmental Management System (EMS) and work toward getting the plant to a Tier 3 Environmental Pioneer status, working at being ready to step toward Tier 4 – ISO 14001 – should this become necessary

* Track Preventative Maintenance (PMs), work orders and maintain electronic & hard copy libraries of all environmental records for audit purposes

* Read log books daily, continuously update cost saving spreadsheets and develop SOPs

* Maintain / Monitor all systems to keep the plant in compliance with all Federal, Provincial, and Corporate Environmental regulations

* Establish & maintain records of all waste streams from the plant and identify any that may be recyclable

* Establish, run and organize monthly safety meetings, energy teams and assigned projects

* Enforce HACCP and CFIA regulations and ensure the Engineers follow the Operating Engineers Act

* Daily payroll, scheduling of vacations and preparing work schedules for Engineers & WWTP Operators and prioritize daily work activities with Maintenance when required

* Effectively communicate company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team

* Provide help to management, including hiring and training, and keeps management updated on team performance

* Compile & send a weekly environmental report to all the plant’s Managers & General Supervisors

* Other duties as required 

QUALIFICATIONS

* 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate preferred

* Minimum - Second (2nd) Class Stationary certification and must be willing to obtain a 1st Class Power Engineer Certificate within 5 years

WILL CONSIDER:

- Inter Provincial 

Standardized  

Manitoba

- Other Province tickets (subject to equivalency evaluation)

* 3 yrs+ experience in a direct Supervisory role

* 3 yrs+ experience in project management

* Must be mechanically inclined 

* Experience working with little supervision

* Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, natural gas fired steam boiler systems and PLC systems is an asset

* Experience working with a preventive maintenance program

* Ability to ensure the safe and efficient operation of a large ammonia refrigeration, boiler and pre-treatment plant

* Able to perform tasks under tight time frames

* Able to work to exacting Environmental and Food Safety (HACCP) Standards

* Self-motivated

* Computer literate
