JOB DESCRIPTION

Requires: 6 months - two years of experience in a financial services-related role (e.g., tax, planning, accounting, admin, etc.). Internship exp sufficient. Desire to learn financial planning and be an essential member of a small team.

 

A small, select multi-family office delivering fee-only financial planning and advisory services to high net worth / high income clients seeks a highly-motivated associate to assist the Principal and the Senior Associate in comprehensive service to clients in all aspects of their personal financial and estate planning.

 

Duties include interacting with clients and their other professional advisors, both in person and by phone, gathering and organizing client data, and preparing detailed, comprehensive financial & estate plans annually to guide our clients in every aspect of their planning. We also focus heavily on quarterly and year-end income tax planning.

 

This small firm requires a “team effort” when it comes to handling the administrative tasks involved in servicing the clients / running the firm, such as preparing mailings,

drafting letters of instruction, paying bills, completing account transfer forms, etc.

 

The job offers significant potential for growth and the opportunity to acquire an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of personal financial and estate planning, including investments, income taxes, retirement and other corporate benefit plans, wills, trusts and related documents, insurance coverages, etc. It offers a rare opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in servicing sophisticated clients in all aspects of their planning and could be considered the equivalent of an “on-the-job” MBA or JD.

 

The position is offered on a probationary basis, subject to a monthly performance review and evaluation during each of the first three months. Given the nature of the

position and the firm, it is critical the new candidate be a good fit for the role and a dependable, long-term addition to the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 6 months to two years of experience in some combination of personal finance, investments and income taxes. (Internship exp sufficient)

- Desire to learn income tax and financial planning

- Bachelor’s degree; excellent education credentials / high academic standing

- High level of professionalism and attention to detail

- Excellent written and oral communications skills

- Self-starter who works well in a fast-paced and deadline-orientated environment

- Able to work on / keep track of multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

- Ability to work independently and a strong sense of follow-through

- Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word.

- Familiarity with QuickBooks and/or eMoney platform is a plus.
