Our Client  is a rapidly growing international manufacturer operating in the Petrochemicals and Plastics Industries. We seek an entrepreneurial Market Development Manager to manage our existing business in specialty compounds and spearhead new business initiatives in the area of structural polymers, compounds and advanced materials.    

 

SUMMARY: This is a high impact position requiring a dynamic, entrepreneurial candidate.  The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the existing Advanced Materials business as well as identifying new markets, completing market studies and business plans, coordinating product development and sales activities and leading entry into new market segments.   

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Analyzes market needs and develops Ingenia’s proprietary range of products for the Advanced Materials market including cross-linkable polyethylene and specialties markets. Cooperates, closely with the sales, R&D and technical service departments.
  • Spearheads entry into new markets in the polyolefins space.  Such markets may include materials for additive manufacturing, additives for wood-fibre plastic composites, compression molding materials or other polyolefins related markets. 
  • Identifies opportunities for new product development and shepherds them through the gated development process.  Cooperates with product development, technical service and sales resources to commercialize new products.   
  • Works with VP Sales and Regional Sales Managers to develop the sales strategy for existing and new products. 
  • Development of the sales budget for Advanced Materials.  P&L responsibility for this segment. 
  • Supports Ingenia’s corporate image as a technology leader in the industry.
  • Communicates with sales people to determine customer needs and participates frequently in customer visits.
  • Communicates with raw material suppliers regarding qualifications and contributes to the evaluation of new suppliers and materials.
  • Represents the company at industry trade conferences and events. Follows closely all relevant industry associations and conferences for worldwide developments and trends.
  • Understands thoroughly the company’s cost structure (globally) and negotiates pricing, delivery, commercial terms as well as contracts, agreements and NDAs with key accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering or Polymer Chemistry. A MBA or equivalent business management experience is required.
  • A highly entrepreneurial individual able to identify new market opportunities and customer needs.  Able to spearhead and coordinate all aspects of entry into new markets. 
  • Minimum 5-10 years of progressive experience in a combination of marketing/sales service and/or R&D in the polymers industry.
  • Very good knowledge of polymer processing technology and an interest and ability to learn new processes.
  • Solid knowledge of the specialty polymers (Cross-linkable, fuel-barrier, high performance) industry including knowledge of suppliers, customers, and competitors; and an interest and ability to learn new markets. 
  • Topical knowledge of physical and analytical testing techniques common to the polymer industry
  • Experience managing internal resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent presentation skills required.
  • Extensive global travel required.

     

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to communicate across all levels of the employee-base is essential.  Excellent knowledge of the English Language is required.  Knowledge of a second language- particularly Spanish, French, Chinese or Arabic - is an asset.
