We have been engaged by a highly profitable, global leading industrial company known for innovation, to find a Senior Buyer to drive aggressive cost reduction and supplier rationalization across several key categories for its top product line.

The parent company leads the world in its industrial products niche, maintaining its edge via operational upgrades and innovation. An integrity driven West Point trained SVP of Operations has been recruited to drive lean and continuous improvement across the firm. Pre-pandemic the company saw 15% YOY North American growth and had just crested $2B in sales; they pivoted during the pandemic to preserve sales and improve the business with good result.

Key responsibilities include developing /implementing a cost improvement program for assigned commodities, performing supplier audits to evaluate current partners, negotiating business unit agreements, and working closely with design and manufacturing engineering to develop demand based supply systems. The winning candidate will be adept at and passionate about transforming a rapidly growing sector into a streamlined, efficient and profit driving area.  This is a rare opportunity to join a world-class, leading player who doesn’t often hire outside at this level.


Ensures that company standard procedures are followed in connection with purchases of material and services. 


Analyzes market conditions and trends; explores sources of supply; processes requests for all products and commodities.


Prepares and issues purchase orders and requisitions; secures price advantages of quantity buying; composes and edits bid quotations; analyzes bids received; prepares and monitors contracts, outlining performance standards, tolerances, warranties and maintenance requirements within the Purchasing Department. 


Follows up and maintains current and accurate database information, vendor lead times, open purchases, commitments and shortages. 


Updates and maintains inventory maintenance within the software system. 


Maintains data, prepares reports and analyzes information using available software in decision-making.


Studies products usage; determines vendor from whom purchases will be made; places orders; negotiates and renews contracts; investigates complaints and secures adjustments. 


Resolves vendor quality issues and tracks and documents results and vendor performance.  Initiates quality programs that benefit vendor relationships while improving the quality for customer. 


Provides technical support and conducts training for staff.  Mentors and provides guidance to Buyers I and II. 

University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
