Responsible for providing Compliance  services to the assigned division at the client employer.   Work closely with the LOB group(s) supported and other internal business partners to safeguard regulatory, corporate and fiduciary obligations are met. In order to effectively achieve compliance goals, maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and developments, assesse risk, identify possible gaps and weaknesses and advise business partners on remediation. Develop and maintain compliance information for analysis and reporting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Compliance Officer - Assistant Manager

Duties may include:

  • Serving as the primary compliance officer (COC) for consumer lending operations.
  • Coordinating with compliance officer(s) for other product development and collection departments with respect to compliance matters that may impact consumer lending operations. 
  • Also responsible for the development and maintenance of the fair lending policy and program, and any other regulatory compliance responsibilities that may arise. 
  • Assesses new consumer lending and deposit products, services and programs for the bank. Develops the compliance portion of comprehensive risk assessments of products and programs. Participates in the presentation to Risk Management Committee. 
  • Preserves orderly and detailed work papers, assists management with the determination of the cause(s) of violations or exceptions, recommends corrective action, conducts exit meetings with management and drafts reports of compliance findings to senior management. 
  • Progresses methodology for determining potential risk areas identifiable through fair lending data analysis and identifies and incorporates all relevant sources of data to ensure a comprehensive analysis of fair lending risk. Manages the bank’s HMDA reporting and prepares the annual Fair Lending Plan. Performs risk analysis on non-data related fair lending issues using FFIEC examination procedures. 
  • Delivers support and monitoring to various regulations including, but not limited to the SAFE Act, Regulation B, Regulation E, Regulation Z, Regulation CC, and Regulation DD. 
  • Conducts investigations with the business line and other staff stemming from system generated and/or external requests; analyze and investigate significant case escalations. Work cooperatively with other institutions or local, state, or federal authorities to investigate suspicious account activity. 
  • Recognizes and manages updates to applicable policies and procedures, including monitoring of current and future deposit and loan compliance, BSA/AML and OFAC regulations and industry trends. 
  1. Manages or assists in the management of applicable internal and external departmental BSA/AML, OFAC and lending compliance audits and examinations. 
  2. Oversees the training and guidance for new employees as they are hired or transfer into the area. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Compliance Officer - Assistant Manager

Required Qualifications:

  • 8 +  years’ experience in Banking, Consumer Lending, compliance laws and regulations, or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Business Law or equivalent discipline required.
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s CIP, BSA and AML policies and procedures
  • Proven work experience in an environment requiring simultaneously handling multiple projects to completion within short deadlines
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills essential
  • Able to handle confidential matters judiciously
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organization skills to perform multiple tasks simultaneously within short deadlines.
  • Previous experience in Consumer Credit preferred. 
  • Experience handling difficult customer situations
  • Strong ability to read and understand compliance laws and regulations
  • Acquaintance with performing risk assessments
  • Knowledge of credit underwriting or documentation and consumer loan products

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
