JOB DESCRIPTION

Global Tier 1&2 automotive supplier seeks CONTROLS ENGINEER!! 

 

GENERAL PUROSE OF JOB: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Controls Engineer is responsible
to focus on satisfying all production and customer requirements of molded parts. Create, develop, design,
manufacture, assist, install and maintain all production processes and equipment as it relates to the processing of
plastic automotive components. Support of production both in-house and at outside suppliers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; other duties may be assigned.
? Troubleshoot product, process, tooling and equipment problems in forming and secondary operations as
required
? Create and/or maintain process and equipment operating procedures and work instructions as required
for safe and efficient operation, and to comply with our manufacturing client's Quality Systems requirements.
? Monitor signals in ladder logic during downtime events to help isolate software/hardware that may need
replacement.
? Monitor part and shift performance - daily, weekly, monthly and develop and/or lead activity to make
improvements in cost, quality, productivity
? Develop and coordinate process flow, tooling, process, and equipment changes in support of product
launch, engineering changes and process improvements

? Develop processes/steps/work flow/layouts for manufacturing or assembly

? Provide training as required to implement and maintain technical processes and procedures.
? Identify and/or initiate qualifying SRED activity and maintain SRED documentation.
? Work with maintenance personnel and associates at all technical levels across disciplines as required.
? Obtain quotes from vendors for tooling and equipment
? Program, troubleshoot and optimize robotic waterjet trim processes


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
? Analysis of statistical data and performance metrics to formulate root cause and problem solution of
technical processes
? Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment, materials, tooling, presses, pneumatics,
hydraulics, controls
? Technical aptitude in
o Process design
o Hands on mechanical work
o Robotic programming of multi robot cells
o Excellent knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC programming and ladder logic.
? Ability to create novel solutions to problems

? Knowledge of automotive quality systems and experience in new program launch an asset –
TS16949/ISO14001, APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA
? Hands on experience with plastics processing (compression molding, vacuum forming, injection, or
extrusion)
? Hands on experience with custom assembly equipment using PLC, sensors, pneumatics, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
? Mechanical, Industrial, Electronic, or Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent
? Experience in plastics processing (preferably thermoforming and/or Compression molding)
? Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills
