* Responsible for all machine controls in two facilities (close proximity)

* Eventual involvement in strategy, design, specifications, contracting or hiring of technical staff, etc.

* Troubleshoot and implement software changes to A/B platform of PLCs

* Support new machine builds, installations and modifications

* Support and promote continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and taking advantage of all cost reduction opportunities

* Handle projects as assigned and suggest and implement improvements to internal processes, information, and procedures

* Develop controls drawings and design concepts 

* Establish and maintain effective communications with production, quality, and engineering

* Participate in on-going cross-training, multi-skilling activities within the organization

* Train and monitor Team Members selected to operate the equipment and systems

* Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to the job function

* Deal with supplier and equipment vendors as needed

* Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures / Policies in Employee Handbook, Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental programs

* Ensure department is clean, organized and a safe workshop and production lines

* Other duties as required


* Degree / Diploma in Electrical controls or related education strongly preferred

* 5 yrs+ experience in troubleshooting and editing or programming PLCs

* Experience with packaging and/or printing processes an asset

* Capable of reading and editing electrical, mechanical and layout drawings

* Background in PLC networking, ControlNet and DeviceNet

* Demonstrated knowledge of Mathematics 

* Demonstrated knowledge of English, both oral and written

* Working knowledge of safety standards 

* Experience with PLCs, preferably with knowledge in programming and troubleshooting of A/B PLCs

* Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational, and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work in a team environment

* Working knowledge of MS Office 

* Able to work independently without supervision and meet / support multiple deadlines

* Ability to work rotating shifts 

* Able to be available for emergency calls at times
