Job Description
Lead the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities on new projects.  Responsibilities include technical definition and evaluation of process alternatives that support business growth and improve existing chemical operations.  Activities include process development and definition, conceptual and detailed process design, project engineering, contractor supervision, quality assurance, safety and regulatory compliance.  Responsible for process engineering support throughout the plant(s) including Process Hazard Analysis or Hazop review leadership.  Will work on optimization of processes, cost reductions, and overall focus on process improvements, and project management.  Will utilize technical know-how and experience for troubleshooting process problems, debottleneck the process to improve production capacity, optimize existing problems, and develop process specifications for new processes.  Will assist on design work and support process related projects as a lead project engineer on small to medium sized projects.  Support the Project Manager as lead process and/or project engineer on larger sized projects.









Must have a BS ChemE with 4+ years experience working as a Process Engineer in a batch chemicals manufacturing environment. Must have done capital projects in this time period

Chemical Engineer with experience as a Sr. process and project engineer in the plant (hands-on experience required) in the chemical industry.  Experience with a wide array of process unit operations is desired including batch reactions, crystallization, drying,  distillation, agglomeration, granulation, filtration, process automation, and others.
Qualified candidates should have demonstrated capabilities in the process design, automation, troubleshooting, debottlenecking, capacity expansion, P&ID development, PHA participation, Safe work habits, and coordination with other disciplines on a project (CAD, instrumentation, structural, mechanical, automation, construction management).
Advanced chemistry strengths area a plus.  Must be able to apply basic chemical engineering fundamentals and calculations to solve problems and design new processes.  Mass and energy balances, heat transfer, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, MOC selection, mass transfer, phase change, etc.  It is highly desirable to have good project engineering skills to manage assigned capital projects, and this would include scope, schedule and budget development and control throughout a project life cycle.
