Our client is seeking a candidate to fill the Director of Civil Engineering position in our small multi-disciplinary practice. Company has a thirty-three year diverse history includes boundless playgrounds, retail, educational and government facilities, large industrial and commercial developments, and residential communities.

Ideally the candidate will possess a CT P.E. license, AutoCad Civil 3D proficiency, and a BSCE degree or higher.

The new Director of Civil Engineering will lead the civil design team from concept to complete site design and serve as a mentor to his/her staff. He/she should be well versed in road design, grading, storm drainage/analysis, utilities, traffic engineering, and presentations to boards and commissions. As a company representative, he/she shall be knowledgeable and remain unruffled in contentious situations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in civil engineering. Connecticut license highly preferred. Massachusetts and R.I. desirable
  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering). MSCE desirable;
  • Minimum of ten years experience in land development site design (private & public);
  • Designed a wide variety of projects (residential, commercial, industrial, education, public, etc.);
  • Must be skilled in site grading;
  • Proficient in AutoCad site design;
  • Adept at interfacing with clients, regulatory officials, and other design team members;
  • Strong supervisory skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including report writing and memos;
  • Has successfully presented to numerous regulatory boards and commissions;
  • Experienced in preparing project budgets and client proposals;
