CONFIDENTIAL Search for Director of Operations…. Need a Change Agent...a catalyst.    Will need to be Six Sigma trained - know how to manage to key performance indicators. This is a high mix electronics assembly environment.  Strategic but also tactile role - will be out on plant floor working closely with Plant Manager and Team leaders.

Incumbent was promoted to corporate role.  This facility is at division headquarters.  Will initially just manage one facility but will gradually take on other locations.   Critical role as the largest assembly operation where new products are rolled out.  Will participate in budget process, working closely with Divisional VP who is NOT on-site.  Seek someone promotable to Division leadership.


 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Have primary responsibility to manage all aspects of manufacturing and production operations. Plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing functions and general operations of designated groups providing the manufacturing services, facilities and information necessary for efficient, cost effective and timely operations. This includes: effective management of manufacturing, setting goals and strategies to achieve production goals, manage profil and loss, training new leaders.  Establishing metrics to ensure production levels are achieved.

Job Duties:

  • Facilitates production processes, production capabilities, production schedules and other considerations.
  • Develops continuous improvement methodologies
  • Determines and manages production costs; material needs; subcontract requirements; facility needs; and equipment needs.
  • Uses lean manufacturing, and six sigma principles, reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Manages budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Oversee plant and safety program. Ensure plant meets OSHA requirements.
  • Manage team of 45 – 50 including Production Manager, Plant Manager, Team leaders

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Need a BSEng or BSBA with a successful track record in managing electronic assembly operations that are as mix of standard as well as job shop/custom fabrication in a lean environment. KEY is someone who has successfully helped move from labor intensive to automated production.  Involves microprocessors, wire bonding, connectors, packaging.
