JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a rapidly expanding biotechnology company developing a novel live-cell gene delivery platform.  They are seeking a Director of Oncology to provide scientific, managerial and program leadership to advance our growing oncology pipeline.  They will lead the oncology research team and collaborate with other teams across the organziation, external partners and key subject matter experts to develop novel bacTRL-based therapeutics for solid tumors.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides scientific and organizational leadership. Mentors and develops talent, providing feedback, training and exposure to new assignments and projects.
  • Leads a talented team of oncology researchers to deliver an innovative and sustainable pipeline in oncology, across a diversity of therapeutic approaches for solid tumors, from inception through to IND.
  • Ensures the success of internal programs and external collaborations by developing focused research plans and scientific blueprints that outline key project go/no-go decision points.
  • Coordinates with other departmental teams, activities and programs to ensure strategic alignment, resource efficiency and timely delivery.
  • Expands the cutting-edge expertise and breadth/depth of knowledge, processes, and industry best-practices in oncology research within the department and across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Excellent managerial and leadership skills with track-record of effective mentorship and success of direct reports.
  • Proven track-record of effective program management, from initial design through to execution and program close-out with demonstrated ability to appropriately resource and deliver efficiently.
  • History of scientific innovation and accomplishment as demonstrated through publications, patents, IND submissions or other meaningful project outcomes.
  • Broad knowledge of oncology industry, treatment landscape and therapeutic development trends.
  • PhD with 10+ years of relevant industry experience in oncology drug development.
