Headquartered in Hillsborough, NC, but the company is open to a predominantly remote situation.  Additionally, the company would relocate someone to NC if the candidate wanted to go that route. 

Job Purpose

Seeking an E-Commerce Architect to join our development team to support some of the biggest sporting sites including Soccer.com, WorldSoccerShop.com and 431Sports.com.  All of these customer-facing e-Commerce websites are built on the HCL (IBM) WebSphere Commerce and DX platforms. ?These sites have been architected to have HCL DX, a premiere content management platform sit out in front of our e-Commerce platform and consume web services to present a highly experiential and customizable user interface. ?This front-end platform currently leverages Vue.js javascript framework to create single page applications.  These are responsive websites with leading-edge personalization capabilities, that gives our business users a lot of?flexibility and has been designed in a mobile-first approach. 


This position will provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for our websites utilizing our main technology stack consisting of HCL commerce and DX.  The architect will work with all levels of the organization to understand requirements and to recommend modern technology solutions to meet these goals.   A key responsibility is to work with our software vendors to establish a long-term technology roadmap as well as to seek out newer technologies which are necessary to keep our sites best-in-class.

The technical architect is expected to be hands-on supporting the development process and will work closely with the developers to ensure solutions are incorporating best-practices, leading design reviews and peer code reviews.

In addition to exceptional leadership and analytical skills, you must have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude. 







This Position Requires the Following at a Minimum 

  • Advanced technical and functional knowledge of HCL Commerce (formally IBM WebSphere Commerce), V9 nice to have
  • IBM/HCL DX/WCM platform experience  nice to have
  • Experience in HCL Commerce to design and develop solutions with Headless architecture
  • Hands-on experience in WebSphere Commerce sub-systems
  • Hands-on experience for payment gateway integration with Commerce product for different payment types
  • Experience with containers is a nice to have
  • Experience with backend system integration with ERP system such as SAP will be a plus
  • At least 5 years experience with J2EE and the HCL Commerce suite of products including HCL Commerce Server and WebSphere Application Server
  • Ability to leverage: WC commands, EJBs, JSPs, Servlets, JDBC, JNDI, ANT, and JSTL
  • Expertise with messaging oriented middleware including MQ Series and JMS. • Expertise with XML, UML and Web Services.
  • Expertise with the Struts and Spring Application Frameworks
  • Expertise with Object Oriented Programming and Object Oriented Design.
  • Expertise with J2EE IDEs including RAD, WSAD, and Eclipse
  • Expertise with frameworks such as Vue.js javascript framework
  • Expertise with code management tools including Github
  • Expertise with SQL design and development including stored procedures, triggers, packages.
  • Support performance tuning of customer's HCL Commerce environments including IHS, WAS, DB2
  • Expertise with unit, system, and integration testing
  • Ability to generate technical specifications including application design, database design, and ongoing change requests.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a cross-functional development teams. • Effective organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in support of client facing consulting. • Comfortable and capable of leading client discovery sessions in a consultative manner.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
