A leading international producer of specialty ingredients for the health and nutrition industry is seeking a Plant Electrical Project Engineer. In this role you will develop and implement capital projects involving both process control and power distribution including the design, field construction and commissioning of new equipment and electrical facilities and provide electrical and process controls support to the engineering group and plants. Plant is located in the Chicago suburbs. Competitive salary and benefits. Local or regional candidates with minimal relocation needs preferred.
Develop the scope of work, cost estimate, and schedule for capital projects and engineering studies.
Prepare funding requests, including reviews of EHS and Quality aspects of the project.
Manage approved projects to achieve promised deliverables within budget and schedule constraints.
Manage engineering contractors to execute capital projects.
Evaluate/select electrical distribution and process controls equipment and electrical contract services.
Review contractor field work, monitor safe work practices.
Prepare purchase requisitions, plant work orders, work permits, and monthly cost/project status reports.
Provide assistance to plant personnel and outside contractors to troubleshoot problems.
Provide start-up assistance on capital projects.
Manage detail electrical and control system designs and prepare construction bid packages.
B.S. degree in engineering, preferably electrical or control systems.
8+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Process industry experience (chemical, food ingredient, pharmaceuticals, biofuels) desired.
Practical knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems. Allen Bradley experience preferred.
Previous experience with project execution related to maintenance, safety and infrastructure improvements, energy cost reductions or capacity increases desired.
Familiarity with electrical field construction methods and safe work practices.
Project cost estimating and scheduling ability using Microsoft Project or similar software.
Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and practices.
Desire and ability to grow into a leadership position in the future.
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
