Seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer located in Meriden, CT.
Design and build electro-mechanical test fixtures to validate function of aerospace elastomeric seals, and electro-mechanical equipment to automate manufacturing processes. Ability to work with CATIA 3D CAD software, Design of Experiments, and have project management skills. Collect and document test data results with the ability to review/communicate product data results of testing to vendors and customers. Works closely with engineers, production manager, production workers, customers and vendors.
Design mechanical hardware / fixtures and microcontroller software, for mechanical testing of aerospace components. Co-ordinate construction of hardware and develop software.
Analyze manufacturing process for automation opportunities. Design and co-ordinate construction of electromechanical manufacturing equipment and robotics. Set-up, test and integrate automated processes into manufacturing system.
Interpret engineering drawings, prints, and specifications against actual parts and confer with production personnel, management and engineering staff in determining their quality and reliability standards.
Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of component capability.
Document and maintain records of testing and data results.
Work closely with vendors and customers to communicate test results and product data.
Design tests to collect data and inspect components.
Perform demonstrations of components meeting specifications and requirements.
Capability of using necessary equipment and tools (such as CAD software, MRP software, testing software, etc.).
Assist with contract reviews, and audits for AS9100, ESA, OSHA compliance.
Other duties as described by management.
Must have minimum of a two (2) year degree (Associates) in Engineering or related field.
Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English language. Knowledge of French language is a plus.
Three (3) years of experience in field and/or 2-5 years related experience
Familiarity with ISO, AMS, MIL and other aerospace standards, Airbus, Boeing, UTC specifications.
Experience with reverse engineering, elastomers, molding methods, microcontrollers, robotics, automation, Six Sigma.
Vibration and damping analysis, vibration and shock mounts.
Familiarity with EMI shielding, and / or down-hole drilling equipment is a plus.
Knowledge of FEA and CFD packages for CAD is a plus.
University - Associate's Degree/Graduate Diploma/2 Years
