We have recently been engaged by the Vice President of Research and Projects for a leading edge graphics company. Our customer, is a visionary in the Graphics/Imaging sector with a proven track record in providing entire software and now, hardware IP platform solutions that enable safety critical applications. These Engineers are pushing boundaries that literally have not been pushed before in critical graphics,  video drivers, and “program ready” embedded graphics processors. Their custom solutions are being leveraged in the aerospace industry but also rapidly emerging markets that include automotive, unmanned vehicle, and internet of things markets.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Embedded Software QA Manager

Main Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in all aspects of the software testing process, collaborate with testers, developers, management, and project stakeholders, and deliver releases to customers
  • Motivate, coach, and develop the QA team, assisting with department hiring
  • Ensure the consistent implementation of effective engineering processes for optimum performance and success of the organization
  • Represent QA at various internal and external meetings
  • Work as a team to produce reliable, high quality, safety critical software
  • Participate in major architecture discussions for software products
  • Participate in AS9100 audits for Software - internal and external
  • Manage QA Environment
  • Responsible for equipment inventories for both company and customer hardware
  • Support developers with remote QA testing

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • Good understanding of Software programming languages (C/C++, Python/Scripting)
  • Thorough understanding of testing methodologies, including test automation
  • Experience developing, debugging, and troubleshooting embedded software
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Experience with Manual, Automated, and Performance testing tools
  • Experience with testing environments and frameworks
  • Outstanding verbal and written English communication skills are crucial
  • Strong organization and technical skills
  • Excellent analytical / problem solving skills
  • Ingrained sense of accountability and ownership
  • Continuous drive for learning, pushing technical limits, and finding new solutions

Additional Assets: *

  • Experience in software development (preferably C)
  • Experience with defect tracking and diagnosing software defects
  • Experience with 3D graphics 
  • Experience with various operating systems (Linux, PikeOS, Windows, VxWorks, Integrity)
  • Experience using GIT or other source code management tools
  • Experience using Jenkins (build tools)
  • Experience using Jira

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficient skills in an embedded environment (C) and has expert level skills with testing methodologies and leading a QA team to product releases ideally in a regulated environment. This will likely be someone who has worked with SW for aerospace, graphics, display, video or imaging technologies and is comfortable in a Linux environment. This will be a leadership role with a small team so motivating, coaching and developing staff will be a big part of the role. Very strong communication skills are a must for this.
