JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading the administration and strategic plan of the organization while directing the organization’s operational activities.

Strategic Leadership & Navigation

  • Establish an organizational structure to ensure the fulfilment of the organization's mission, vision, and strategic plan of the organization.
  • Advance the mission and vision of the organization by working effectively with government and key stakeholders in the healthcare system.
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate management personnel and monitor the quality performance and delivery of all health care services.
  • Guide the development and implementation of strategic priorities and develop strategies to mitigate risks and improve patient/client care.
  • Provide expertise, feedback, and guidance to ensure best practice methodologies are applied to patient/client-focused projects and initiatives.
  • Act as a role model and champion for continuous improvement by coaching and assisting team members and employees to communicate change effectively.

Human Resources Management and Operations

  • Accountable for service delivery outcomes, finances, human resources, fund development, and overall operations of the organization.
  • Ensures that policies, procedures, reports, and overall record keeping are in compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Keep up to date with all health and safety, and employment standards as well as Health Department regulations.
  • Consciously create an employee-oriented workplace culture that emphasizes diversity, quality, compassion, collaborative efforts, continuous improvement, workplace satisfaction, key employee retention and development, high performance, and ongoing personal development.
  • Represent the organization at the community planning level and liaise with various healthcare organizations, government, and media.
  • Participates when needed in any labour relations matters, including grievances, committee meetings and negotiations.

Board Support

  • Responsible for the regular creation, revision, and implementation of clinical policies and procedures, including appropriate delegation of this responsibility to staff. 
  • Plan, develop, and present monthly/quarterly budgets and status reports for the Board of Directors. 
  • Required attendance and participation at staff meetings, Board meetings, committee meetings, and to provide reports as required to the Board of Directors.
  • Communicate Board directions and policies to staff and execute all decisions and directives made by the Board of Directors.
  • Provide support to the Board of Directors and its committees by communicating relevant concerns or issues in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience at a senior or executive level, specifically in the health services sector.
  • Member in good standing and license to practice without restriction with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
  • Current BCLS Certificate.
  • Current proof of professional liability insurance.
  • Strong operational and change management skills, with the ability to build relationships across clinical, functional, and financial areas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build trust and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Energetic leader who is inclusive and humble with a high level of integrity, ethics, and empathy.
  • As a condition of employment, you are required to adhere to the organization’s COVID-19 vaccination policies.  

Education:
University - Master's Degree
