Job Title: Field Clinical Specialist

TERRITORY: Northern, CA, WA, ID, must reside in Palo Alto, CA area

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary objective of the Field Clinical Specialist is to provide field-based clinical and technical training/support for this Medical Device product line. The candidate will be responsible for training health care professionals in the use of the medical devices and support associated surgical procedures; programming devices and providing technical expertise in the use of the Medical Device/Implantable product line. The candidate will perform these duties and develop the necessary training skills in compliance with FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practices.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include (but are not limited to): • Surgical case coverage. • Follow-up support and troubleshooting of Implantable Products. • Conducting patient programming’s. • Conducting required training for new and existing centers. • Represent devices from a clinical perspective at tradeshows, local meetings, group dinners etc. Key Responsibilities: Clinical and Technical Support • Represents company during surgeries, implants, and device programming. • Demonstrates expertise in all aspects of implanted medical devices and troubleshooting techniques. • Provides support and follow-ups in hospitals and clinics. • Receives technical inquiries by telephone. • Researches solutions to questions or problems. • Provides on-call support as needed for surgeries, reprogramming, troubleshooting, follow-up, etc. Educational/Research Support • Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel and office staff on technical matters relating to key products. • Builds professional and technical knowledge by engaging with customers, attending scientific conferences, educational workshops, delivering presentations and training to field personnel and reviewing professional publications • Regularly educates and updates physicians/clinicians and clinic follow-up staff on new product releases of device systems and features, including both hardware and software modifications. • Aid physicians with technology – literature searches, engineering, Bioness technology. Internal Support • Educates and trains personnel on technical and clinical matters relating to products. • Maintain open, effective communication with all functions, including Regulatory Assurance, Quality Assurance, and Product Development, as well as with employees. • Assist sales to identify and target physicians. • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. • Must be able to operate with little direct supervision. • Travel may be extensive, up to 60%, with 2-3 overnights a week. 


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in health care related field or a four-year degree with health care/clinical experience. Advanced degree in health sciences or engineering preferred.  RN is a +

EXPERIENCE: Prior surgical and/or OR support experience as a field clinical engineer, technical representative, technology. Prefer rainer or clinical trainer in medical device field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Candidate must have: • Ability to communicate effectively with health care professionals. • Ability to instruct/coach others on use of products and clinical applications. • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor. • Effective problem solving and trouble shooting skills. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to prioritize under pressure. • Solid MS Office skills including PowerPoint. • The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
