The Fund Controller at this specialized provider of financial reporting, accounting and business support activities for venture firms, hedge fund investors and private equity firms is responsible for managing and leading all client engagements.  The Fund Controller is a working manager and directs the activities of less experienced professionals who are involved  in fund accounting, capital account maintenance and financial statement preparation.  This is a great opportunity for a professional with a strong accounting background (preferablly Big 4 experience) that has an interest in alternative investments and enjoys working in a manageable environment in downtown Boston with collleagues with similar backgrounds.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fund Controller at this specialized provider of financial reporting, accounting and business support activities for venture firms, hedge fund investors and private equity firms is responsible for managing and leading all client engagements.  The Fund Controller is a working manager and directs the activities of less experienced professionals who are involved  in fund accounting, capital account maintenance and financial statement preparation.  

Specific responsiblilites include; 

  • Maintain frequent client contact to keep abreast of ongoing fund activities
  • Manage client expectations
  • Manage engagement keeping in mind client needs, staff utilization and overall engagement efficiency
  • Supervise the audit and tax preparation process
  • Review all communications to the client and its investors on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with sourcing new clients, issuing proposals and overall business development
  • Mentor and train junior staff members

                                                                                                 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Finance/Accounting/Economics concentration preferred)
  • 3 plus years of public accounting experience (strong preference for Big4); will consider comparable expereince in an alternative investments firm and/or service provider( (VC/PE fund experience ; fund administrator)
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred
  • Excellent presentation skills; an ability to communicate with clients and a desire to grow professionally are important characteristics
  • Ability to work in a team and individually;strong organizational skills and work ethic are attractive characteristics

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
