We are recruiting a Building Engineer for a  not- for  profit Community Hospital affiliated with a University Healthcare System.

MUST HAVE HEALTHCARE HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE

Responsible for managing building systems serving plant operations, utilities distribution, energy management, energy plant maintenance, and repair of facilities for the Healthcare System.  Provides expertise in computerzation, automation, and monitoring of facilities systems and equipment.

Will report to the Director Plant Engineering

Provides technical engineering expertise and oversees all building systems related to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of Hospital’s central energy plant, utility systems, Life Safety systems, leased/owned/managed real estate, and grounds maintenance.    

Serves as the technical lead for the Building Automation System (BAS).    

Serves as the technical lead for the boiler plant power management systems.   

Operates the computer-aided drafting (CAD) tools and oversees the regular maintenance of current electronic drawings of healthcare facilities.   

In conjunction with the Plant Engineering Director, serves as a technical engineering resource for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of industrial electrical, mechanical, plumbing, vertical/horizontal transport, access control, and other facility systems and equipment. 

Prepares Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for systems and equipment, as needed.   

Provides regular reports to the Plant Engineering Director regarding inspection, testing, and maintenance completion rates, trends, and other matters of significance, as appropriate.    

Optimizes utilities consumption through the safe and efficient application of building automation systems. 

Optimizes utilities rates, where possible, through thorough and competitive sourcing solutions.    

Develops inspection, testing, and maintainence plans for  building systems and components.

Tests, inspects, and maintains building systems, as specified by preventive maintenance programs.    

Supports the Director, Plant Engineering, and Administrative Director, Facilities, in developing capital improvement priorities and budget projections for physical plant and infrastructure repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and new construction projects.

Establishes and maintains a digital CAD drawing database of organization building drawings with emphasis upon as-built drawings and coordination of updates of drawings following building updates, changes, new construction, and/or modifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field, Architecure, or Facilities Management required.  Preference to BSME, BSEE, or other hard science engineering field with emphasis upon physical plant infrastructure, technology management, and/or computer automation systems.

ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or other related credential strongly preferred.

Minimum three (3) years progressively responsible experience in managing plant operations systems and controls.  Strong knowledge of building automation systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) required.  Knowledge of computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems strongly preferred.

Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
