Director of Human Resources
Role: As a key part of the Management team, the Director of Human Resources will assist in a wide range of support. The Director of Human Resources plays a critical role in the success of the organization by ensuring a viable workforce is recruited, trained, engaged, and prepared to meet the continually evolving needs of the transportation and logistics industry.
Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resource functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance across multiple states of commerce.
Designs systems that facilitate the recruitment of job candidates and use of evidence-based selection to select quality employees who will produce the products of the future.
Serves as the chief resource for managers in their efforts to supervise others, ensuring proper coaching, growth and performance excellence skills and commitment are present in the team. Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals, thereby building an employment brand that is reflected in the spirit of collaboration of the team.
Oversees the maintenance of all payroll, benefit, safety records, and others as relevant. Oversees investigations, employee-, and labor-relations concerns with a goal strengthening the core values.
Facilitates stay interviews, exist interviews, and separations as needed.
Maintains various Human Resource databases and assists in generating reports from database as needed.
Assists with administering and selecting benefit programs that drive retention of valuable team members.
Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier and governing bodies, leading the Corporate Safety team and its initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or related discipline. Previous experience of 5+ years in the Human Resource field.
Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred. Manufacturing experience preferred.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees, shareholders and the general public is essential.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality in daily operations and to conduct daily duties in a professional appearance and manner.
Strong computer and software competency required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) Must be well organized, able to manage time efficiently, and have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
The ability to analyze problems and develop alternative solutions to satisfy internal/external customers by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law.
Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy. Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Must have the ability to understand basic business finances. Experience working in a union environment is desired.
Demonstrated ability of effectively working and communicate as a team member.
Worked with remote employees in a multi-state environment with multi-state labor laws or general regulations.
Must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the business needs. COVID -19 compliance/facilitation experience desired
Occasional travel to suppliers and/or customers
