ICU Job description details:

 

*Job Description

Medical coverage in the ICU, evaluation & management of intensive care unit patients covered by the critical care team. The ICU PA/NP (provider) reports to the ICU Medical Director for clinical and administrative issues pertaining to the ICU.  For broader administrative issues the Chief of Medicine should be consulted.  The attending critical care physician on service is available for consultation regarding specific patient related problems.  The attending of record should be informed of any significant change in a patient’s clinical status.  Hours for this role would be: three (3) twelve (12) hour shifts per week.  50% of shifts on Days and 50% on Nights.  Day shifts are 7a - 7p and Night shifts are 7p - 7a.  Would be required to pick up eight (8) additional shifts per year.  Paid for 40 hours worked each week.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Job Requirements

1.Education: Graduate of an approved PA or NP program and nationally certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners.

 

2.Experience:  Two to five years in-patient or ICU or critical care PA/NP experience. Demonstrated autonomy and competency managing critically ill patients and excellent problem solving ability. Able to independently perform some invasive procedures. Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating clinical services for acutely ill patients.

 

3.    License/Certification Required: ACLS certified. Stroke Certification required within one year of hire.

 

4.    Skills:  Proficiency in central venous and arterial access. Management and resuscitation of unstable patients. Management of respiratory failure including proficiency with standard modes of mechanical ventilation.
