We are recruiting a Laboratory Supervisor Microbiology for a MAGNET Community Hospital 30 minutes North of Manhattan.

2 1/2 hours to the Pocono Mountians and the Catskills, 4 hours to Killington,

Microbiology Laboratory Supervisor. Very busy lab.
Day Shift
Annual microbiology test volume test volume reported to the CAP is approximately 300,000
Percentage of time that is supervisory is 60% and 40% benchwork.
5 Pathologists onsite.
10-15 FTE’s in Microbiology
Microscan, Cephied, ID Now, BD Blood Culture, etc.
Responsible for the overall operations of Microbiology Department.
Responsible for compliance with CAP regulatory guidelines, ODH guidelines, QC, QA, Policy and Procedures, oversight of employee competency assessment, and assists with employee performance review.
Interviews, hires, evaluates, counsels and terminates employees as per hosptial policies
Conducts monthly staff meetings to update staff
Develops and submits operating and capital budgets
Reviews Quality Control results
Evaluates and implements new instrumentaion and methodologies
Interfaces with Infection Control and Infectious Disease Physicans
Participates in the Performance Improvement Program
Coordinator of Laboratory Compliance Task Force
Will serve on Committees as assigned such as Infection Control.
Must have a knowledge base in regards to hospital operations, Antibiotic stewardship committee contributions with antibiograms, IQCP development, or Infection control interfacing
Bachelors Degree in Clinical Microbiology or six years clinical microbiology Hosptial experience.
Must have previous Supervisory experience.
Must be licensed in New York State as a Medical Technologist
ASCP or NCS Certification preferred.
Education:
University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
