JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical support to operating areas to ensure an adherence to standard and a drive for continuous improvement
  • Lead the development of Front End Process Design Packages for capital improvements to address safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost opportunities This will consist of:
    • Process description and key technology and risk summary
    • Integration of design principles for operability, maintainability and reliability
    • Process simulations
    • Heat and Material Balance and Process Flow Diagrams
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
    • Process Equipment Specifications
    • Evaluation of Process Economics
  • Support capital engineering with Project Punch-listing, Commissioning and Startup
  • Work within teams to develop and implement productivity projects with the overall goal of achieving improved safety, higher yields, better production rates, and higher attainment
  • Development of tracking systems to monitor performance of various process indicators.
  • Effective use of OSHA-PSM elements including Process Hazards Analysis, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Review, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Become an expert on the process chemistry, the operating philosophy, and the process design basis for the equipment
  • Identify and implement improvements on basic control schemes and advanced process control strategies
  • Assist in Intellectual Property (IP) activities including freedom-to-practice and IP protection

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years of experience in process, production and/or manufacturing engineering within the chemical, petroleum and/or polymer industrial manufacturing environments

 

Additional Qualifications:

• 10+ years of chemical process experience preferred
• Experience in polymer / resin processing industries preferred
• Proven history of delivering productivity, safety, and environmental improvements through capital-efficient projects
• Experience in the fundamentals of process simulation and design for a broad range of unit operations including reaction, distillation, refrigeration, fired heaters, and heat exchange
• Familiarity with chemical plant Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Honeywell Experion and/or advanced control a plus
• Six Sigma certification a plus
• Understanding of various utility systems, including steam boilers, water distribution systems, instrument air systems, etc.
• Strong process and mechanical troubleshooting experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team including salaried and hourly coworkers
• Experienced in the integration of environmental permit compliance limits within process design
• Ability to be self-directed in managing multiple priorities
• Strong computer skills, including process simulation and design tools.

University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
