JOB DESCRIPTION

Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Brantford, ON
Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum + 10% Bonus (Based on Performance) + 3 weeks vacation

Our client is a one of the largest rubber mat manufacturers in the world. Our client owns and operates manufacturing facilities in Ontario, British Columbia, Texas and China. Products are distributed world-wide servicing the Agriculture, Recreational Flooring, Commercial Flooring Playground and Landscaping industry. The Brantford plant location consists of 25 employees producing 4/5 different product lines through a custom automated process. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager in Abbotsford, BC, we are searching for a Manufacturing Engineer. The Manufacturing Engineer will support the NA Engineering team by tackling various Continuous Improvement, Reliability and equipment projects in a fully automated, custom equipment plant located in Brantford, ON.

You will be a hands-on individual, be able to walk the floor (50%) and work together with the Maintenance and Production Departments to improve machinery uptime, equipment reliability and product quality.  A key objective will be to also reduce operating spending by a significant amount. You will have experience with engineering, procurement of parts and equipment re-design for plant productivity. Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Solid Works is required for this role to identify areas for machinery re-design and to bring together a cross-functional team to execute custom designs for equipment reliability. You will support CAPEX project execution and be responsible for mechanical design and improvement of various automation equipment already installed in the plant.

As a Successful Candidate:

You will hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree with 8-10 years of experience in Manufacturing, Process and/or Maintenance Reliability Engineering. Experience leading equipment reliability and maintenance projects as it relates to Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Industrial related disciplines.

Your minimum 5 years of experience with SolidWorks in mechanical design is a requirement with solid experience in identifying areas of improvement as it relates to equipment reliability, plant productivity, and equipment uptime. A successful track record in mechanical design, CI, DFMA, DOE would be an asset to this role. Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma methodology would be an asset as well as an understanding of various automation components (PLC, VFD, Linear Motion equipment).  Project management experience would also be considered an asset.  You will also have the ability to travel as required to Canada and USA to support other plant initiatives within our client’s site locations.
