Great Metal Manufacturing Manager in the Dallas east suburbs.
The Metals Manager is a key member of the manufacturing operational plant team, the Manager is accountable for leading a three (3) shifts manufacture team in the on-time delivery of metals finished goods and components to our internal and external customers. This includes managing production schedules, production reporting, training, positioning subordinates for maximum productivity, processing employee performance reviews, maintaining excellent housekeeping practices and ensuring that all company policies and safety rules are followed on any shift positioned. Manage all plans & projects within budget and scheduled timeline. Accountability: • Directs work group or department to ensure on-time production and/or delivery to the monthly finished goods production plan in a vertically integrated operations while meeting internal customer supplied component demands. • Supervises and coordinates daily activities of personnel engaged in the manufacturing of parts and components in accordance with print specifications, and quality standards. • Fosters professional growth and development of all personnel and promotes group unity, efficiency and effectiveness by providing technical training and support-assistance to problem-solving and continuous improvement activities. • Reviews the production schedule, verifies print specifications, and requirements to determine process, materials, machines and tooling requirements, as well as operations sequencing. • Learn and understand the current standard operating procedures that are in place, evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and work to continuously develop/modify new standard operating procedures for increased efficiencies in manufacturing practices. • Formulates recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, as well as for improvement of working conditions, the workforce, and overall operational efficiency and effectiveness. • Evaluate capacity/forecast for infrastructure planning. • This role leads the Metals organization to improve the overall production process, product quality, cost outcomes and culture. • Conducts in-process inspections and verifications of finished parts so as to ascertain continuous part and process quality conformance. • Investigates malfunction of machines and equipment to determine need for repair. • Develop a performance driven culture by implementing continuous improvement principles in manufacturing. • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications: · Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field and experience. · Minimum 10 years’ experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment. • 5 plus years supervision experience with good leadership and communication skills. • Ability to read and understand drawing/print specifications. • Extensive knowledge in the area of Sheet Metal: welding, machining, fabrication, press brake operation, punch press, turret press, laser, shear & powder coating. · Must have strong decision making skills that are supported by data collection, data analysis, and statistical process control expertise. · Start-up and shut down of all machines and auxiliary equipment in the department. · Must have good mechanical knowledge, hands on skills and computer skills. · Preferred experience with Lean techniques including Six Sigma
