As the Mechanical Engineering Connector Specialist you are the global subject matter expert for the organisation setting the long term direction for connector strategy and making technical knowledge available to the R&D engineers. With a large R&D presence in Christchurch, New Zealand, it would be beneficial for you to be based there, but you could work out of one of their global offices in Sydney, Bangalore or Fremont, California.

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with in-depth experience of electrical connectors. You will be developing state-of-the-art solar power products and setting the long term connector strategy for the business. As part of the global mechanical engineering team, the emphasis will be on analysis, detail design and supply chain interaction, with a focus on optimising designs for performance and cost.
A thorough understanding of the mechanical aspects of electrical contacts and terminals is essential, and ideally, practical experience in product development. Your passion and talent for explaining complex concepts will be critical in educating wide stakeholder groups on the key success factors of electrical contacts, and how mechanical design contributes to those.
You will be comfortable operating at a Principal/Architect level in the organisation, setting the long term direction for connector strategy, making your technical knowledge available for the practical engineers and be the subject matter expert on connectors inside the company globally.
