JOB DESCRIPTION

* Perform direct maintenance work for repair, adaptation, re-design, preventative maintenance and installation of all plant equipment, machinery, and infrastructure in accordance with the objectives of the Maintenance Department and the shortest downtime

* Troubleshoot to assess repair requirements

* Modify machinery and equipment as directed

* Install equipment (i.e fans, conveyors, chutes, guards)

* Repair of hydraulics and pneumatics

* Inspect all machinery for defects and potential problems in accordance with preventative maintenance programs, repairing and replacing parts as required in specified time frame

* Sign out parts from stock and order appropriate replacement parts and fluids

* Complete all PM tasks on equipment by due dates and make necessary suggestions to improve PM effectiveness

* Complete repairs indicated on work orders in a timely fashion

* Check contents of work orders with Supervisor prior to repair or modification work and ensure that information is accurate

* Ensure fluid levels are maintained at appropriate levels in respective equipment and machinery

* Responsible for all coolants, oils and chemicals being disposed of in a proper manner as per WHMIS and internal recycling programs

* Document all parameter changes as per company policy

* Follow company escalation process on equipment downtime, ensuring everyone is aware of the problem, the repair and the root cause

* Plan long-term repairs to be completed during planned downtime

* Interact with maintenance employees to exchange technical information to facilitate teamwork in troubleshooting and repair process

* Responsible to work in compliance with established safe working practices and company procedures

* Comply with all policies and procedures and company objectives related to quality, health and safety, environmental and other legislative requirements

* Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times

* Any other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

* Industrial Millwright (433A) certification

* Minimum 3 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role in a manufacturing environment with highly automated equipment

* Prior automotive parts production industry experience an asset

* Previous experience with metal work, welding fabrication and machining

* Must have experience performing preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment

* Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems

* Experience with Motoman and ABB robots (weld and/or handling) a definite asset

* Ability to work with minimal supervision

* Effective communication skills - both written and oral

* Self-starter who requires minimal direction with strong organization skills

* Good attention to detail  

* Ability to perform hands-on maintenance duties, problem solve solutions, adjust machinery and repair / replace defective parts

* Able to work both independently and in a team environment

* Computer literate - MS Office and CMMS

* Willing and able to work assigned shift and overtime as required
