Someone up and coming in their career with a stable work history. BSME, someone who started their career in NPD (New Product Development) design/development and has moved into an Engineering Manager position. Must have mechanical background with products such as; seats, steering wheels, airbags, seat belts, instrument panels, something similar. 


  • Provide technical and professional leadership to a team of NPD Engineers (7-10 engineers)
    • Design, develop, test and release safety products
    • Establish technical requirements documents
    • Utilize DFMEA’s to lead development process
    • Develop and execute test and validation plans
  • Interface with customers to qualify and release product
  • Support and bring leadership to regular design reviews and peer reviews
  • Lead problem-solving and continuous-improvement activities
  • Provide interface leadership across Purchasing, Manufacturing & Quality competencies
  • Build alliances and processes that support a strong interface with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure robust DFM and product launches
  • Lead development teams by delegating work and prioritizing tasks
  • Drive accountability and ownership to support On-Time/Cost/Spec product execution
  • Establish and implement processes and procedures that improve product design efficiencies and reliability


  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum 10 years of product development experience with mechanical products, ideally automotive restraints; airbags, seat belts, seat systems, steering wheels or similar
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of seat belts strongly preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills – Six Sigma preferred
  • Experience using DFMEA’s to drive design and validation requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
