Network Administrator - IT


Job Summary

The Network Administrator position serves as a skilled technical resource for the management, monitoring, support and security of the various network (e.g., LAN’s, WAN’s, VLAN’s, Intranets, Internets, Wireless, etc.) and telecommunication systems (e.g., PBX, Gateways, etc.) throughout the organization.  In addition, the management and monitoring of the various data and telecommunication providers that link the systems together. Also includes the design, installation and support of the server and storage infrastructure that supports all of the mission critical applications.


Duties include the configuration and installation/upgrades of networks with the associated hardware and operating systems, monitoring and enhancing system performance, overseeing the backend infrastructure and Storage Area Networks and related technologies to support them, conducting data backups and recoveries, plan for and support disaster recovery initiatives, calculating storage and growth requirements, monitoring and remediating security threats, etc.



Job Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.


Minimum Experience Requirement:

Five year’s hands-on experience with computer, server, network hardware and telecommunication installations and maintenance. Advanced knowledge of IT with emphasis on network and telecommunications technologies.


Must have professional appearance and manner and be able to exercise creativity, good judgment, initiative and good problem-solving skills.  Previous experience in a health care environment preferred.  Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.  Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision-making. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under deadline pressures and to simultaneously handle multiple projects.  Professional maturity that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.  High degree of honesty, integrity and confidentiality. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to undertake new responsibilities as assigned. Ability to work under stress.


Required skill set includes: Cisco IOS, Cisco Prime Wireless Management, Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), TCP/IP Communications Protocol, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), VMware server virtualization, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Microsoft Active Directory and DNS, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Microsoft Exchange Server with ESA Security, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Server OS, Storage Area Networks, Firewall and other security appliances and systems, Citrix Xendesktop and VDI, etc.


Desired skill set includes: Vocera with Secure Text, Veeam and Commvault backup, Ascom and ResponseCare Nurse Call, Hugs Infant Protection, Aeroscout RFID, Rapid7 Insight Security Tools, ManageEngine Network Tools, Microsoft Sharepoint, VMware, Cisco Prime, Occularis Video System, etc.


Minimum License Requirement:

Certifications are not required for the job but the following are desired:

CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional

CCIE – Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert

CCDE – Cisco Certified Network Professional

PCNSA – Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator

PCNSE – Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer

MCSA – Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate

MCSE – Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
