Operations Manager
 

Position Description Summary:

Serving as a member of the Management Team, this position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization's functions. Working with the management team, the position also oversees the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, and practices to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations within the company.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

The responsibilities and duties of the Operations Manager consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

- Responsible for Company profitability specifically as it relates to the plant through productivity.

- Ensures systems are in place to preserve and protect all company assets entrusted to the Operations Manager.

- Represent and enforce the company’s policies and procedures.

- Participate in the development of company goals and objectives outlining company strategies for growth and profitability.

- Responsible for assigning management manpower in a manner that ensures overall employee productivity and schedule attainment.

- Regularly consults with the Production Managers to review schedules, production and important deadlines.

- Provides input to the capital budgeting process as it applies to plant equipment.

- Provides input for quality assurance / ISO 9001 as it relates to plant operations.

- Ensures a philosophy of continuous improvement, identifying the root cause of identified non-conformance and developing corrective and preventive actions to resolve these issues as prescribed by ISO 9001 standards.

- Ensure safety policies and procedures are in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) rules and regulations.

- Responsible for ensuring plant operations are in compliance with all governmental rules and regulations.

- Responsible for evaluating personnel reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

- Responsible for overseeing the implementation of engineering controls and all necessary reporting related to EPA/OHSA regulations.

- Responsible for conducting Plant Performance / Managers meetings on, at least, an annual basis.

- Work, in cooperation with Quality and Production, for ensuring order specifications are met with a minimum of production labor, downtime, scrap and waste.

- Review and approve all time clock data for hourly work force.

- Responsible for keeping management informed on all problems, potential and actual, that could affect production goals, quality levels, and schedule attainment.

- Responsible for participating in and contributing to good community relations.

Business Systems

Design, implement, manage and maintain internal electronic business systems including but not limited to;

Internal quoting systems.

IFS Production database.

IFS Inventory Management system.

IFS raw materials data base.

Perform data analysis of all internal databases for trends, problems, or opportunities for improvement.

Implement and manage environmental systems including but not limited to;

Data submission.

Waste disposal.

Interface with outside environmental consultants when necessary.

Conduct audits with province environmental representatives.

Manage raw material pricing.

Initiative

Make best use of work time to complete assignments on schedule.

Consistently demonstrate ability to maintain priorities.

Manifest a proactive approach and take initiative for all aspects of his/her responsibilities.

Recognize and performs tasks that need to be completed, although not assigned – assists others as needed.

Demonstrates sound leadership qualities to represent company in a positive, responsible, and professional manner.

Education & Experience Requirements:

BA or BS in material science, chemistry, physics, or engineering or equivalent work experience required.

At least 8 - 10 years in management of manufacturing and batch processing operations.

Familiarity with safety, health, environmental regulations when handling hazardous and/or hazardous materials.

Dedication to continuous improvement of quality and prevention of quality defects.

Leadership and good people management abilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience Requirements:
