Our client is civil construction company in search of an Operations Manager. The successful candidate will organize, lead and coordinate day-to-day operations while at the same time meet long-term, strategic objectives. He or she will report to the General Manager and will contribute to a progressive management style where individuals are held accountable, transferring knowledge and motivating the team toward a common goal. 

Our client is open to relocating the ideal candidate to Victoria.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Liaises with superintendents, project managers, foreman’s and sub-contractors to coordinate day-to-day operations
  • Provides overall leadership and feedback into the project management and estimating processes
  • Works with the project teams to ensure mandates are executed on time and on budget
  • Holds accountability for scheduling, quality and budgeting of projects
  • Implements changes to ensure timelines and budget constraints are met
  • Champions a culture of safety, ensuring all policies and procedures are strictly followed
  • Contributes to hiring and resource planning
  • Coordinates activities according to service contracts
  • Communicates with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and cost reduction
  • Holds employees accountable, motivates team members and fosters a positive work culture

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 7-10 years in the construction industry
  • Experience as an operations manager in civil construction
  • Experience as a project manager/estimator in civil construction, with a strong understanding of estimating, costs and pricing
  • Experience leading large teams and projects with overall financial accountability
  • Progressive management skills and extremely competent communicator
  • Understanding of sanitary, storm and civil works, as well as construction procedures and excavating equipment
