Physicians Assistant/Nurse Practitioner for Inpatient Oncology

The primary job duties of this position:

 

Inpatient medical oncology practice

 

Primary coverage of 12-16 inpatient solid tumor oncology patients 

 

Daily pre-rounding and daily IDT rounds on unit

 

Admit, discharge, and coordinate care of patients in close collaboration with attendings and interdisciplinary team

 

Respond to and triage acute events

 

Present 7a-5p 14 out of 28 days including weekends and holidays

 

Participate in quality improvement activities and data collection as appropriate

Provide additional support to general DOM inpatient service from time to time including admitting, discharging, and cross-covering general medicine inpatients

Rochester is a city on the southern shore of Lake Ontario in western New York with a population of 208,046 residents. Rochester is the seat of Monroe County and the third most populous city in New York state, after New York City and Buffalo.

It is home to numerous cultural institutions and hosts a number of festivals every year. Popular is the Lilac Festival held for ten days every May, when more than 400 varieties of lilacs bloom, and hosts 100,000 visitors.

Lake Ontario, the Erie Canal and numerous parks provide numerous summer and winter sports such as boating, fishing kayaking, camping, tubing, skiing, skating, etc.

 

Niagara Falls, a national treasure, is located only 1 ½  away. Southeast is the Finger Lakes and wine country.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

 

 

Education: 

Adult, family or geriatric NP or Physician Assistant; Fulfilled the requirements to be a licensed NP or PA in NYS.

 

Experience:  

Oncology, inpatient care, geriatrics, and/or palliative care experience preferred

 

License/Certification Required:  

Currently registered New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse or Registered Physician Assistant with Certification and current DEA registration, BLS certified

 

Skills:  

Demonstrated excellence in written and spoken communication, particularly with complex chronic medical disease, end of life issues, and complicated family systems.
