This would be a great position for biilngual Japanese speaking engineer with experience in industrial or mechanical engineering background. Candidates with a background or a degree in Physics is a plus. Signal Processing engineering experience or knowledge would be welcomed.
The client is looking for a personable engineer that enjoys interacting with end users and technical specialist within our customer base. You would need to be able to talk with credibility and experience in the areas of machine condition monitoring, Predictive Maintenance and the use of software systems in an operational environment. Having a background in areas such as Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS), Diagnostics/Prognostics or Industrial Condition Monitoring (CM) is key.
The focus will be on supporting sales and delivery of our successful machine learning cloud-based software product, therefore experience with software applications is highly desirable as opposed to experience with hardware or IT infrastructure. You will work with customers and their engineers to understand their condition monitoring requirements and data, ensuring our product is deployed successfully. After deployment, you will work with customers to ensure their condition monitoring requirements are met.
Understanding of the flow and exploitation of both sensor and operational data is desirable. This includes an appreciation of the generation of relevant features (or “condition indicators”) from the machine sensor data, and the impact this has on successful fault detection, as well as the ability to minimise data quantities required in a cloud platform such as our solutions. You should understand the maintenance data generated in the operational environment and how this can be exploited to augment sensor data for HUMS and CM applications.
You should be confident in providing training on the functionality of software applications to different end user levels from including administrators, engineering users, and management users. Having proven experience in either training or presenting would be advantageous as well as being able to define training material.
Being able to gather and effectively communicate end user problems and feature requests and being experienced with interacting with software development teams is key to the role.
Being a systems level thinker and appreciating functionality and problems at a high level is essential.
The client is a rapidly growing company. This role has the potential to lead into positions with greater responsibility, whether on the Project side, in Product Management or Sales
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical subject such as Engineering, Physics or equivalent. Alternatively, extensive industrial experience will also be considered.
3+ years’ industrial experience in a technical role, preferably with relevant domain knowledge in Condition Monitoring/Predictive Maintenance/Diagnostics.
3+ years industrial experience in supporting customer projects, including training, trouble shooting and support.
Strong report writing and communication skills.
Willingness to travel (mainly within Japan plus 2-3 trips to UK per year) and support sales and project activities from a technical perspective.
Experience cooperating with software development teams.
An appreciation for machine learning methods is desired but not essential.
