JOB DESCRIPTION

Principal Privacy Engineer  Tempe, Az or SLC, Ut

 

The Company is looking for a Principal Privacy Engineer who will be responsible to help develop and execute on the strategic direction for The Company’s privacy platforms which enable solutions for controls to protect personal data throughout The Company enterprise. This role will contribute both as leadership role as well as relied upon for technical expertise, critical thinking, analytics and creativity while collaborating with business and technical leaders to solve complex privacy challenges for the bank. The Principal Privacy Engineer will be responsible to defines enterprise-wide frameworks and privacy platform architecture which serve as the models for future approaches to privacy controls for the bank. Successful candidates for this position will be passionate about finding efficient solutions to enable collection, transfer and use of personal information across the bank while also establishing assurance that appropriate processes are in place to ensure adequate protections of this information.

 

This individual will be part of The Company Privacy Office Privacy Engineering team responsible for implementations of privacy controls to advance compliance with legal forms of data use as well as support business use of data. The Principal Privacy Engineer will also be responsible to lead establishing close collaboration with Data Governance and Information Risk, and product development teams to develop technical solutions and systems to help mitigate privacy vulnerabilities and prevent potential future privacy risks.

 

The Principal Privacy Engineer will be responsible to work with Privacy Engineering leadership to architect Privacy Engineering solutions which can implement privacy by default for data and technology programs, optimize the effectiveness of privacy protections including discovery of personal data, data mapping, data classification, data obfuscation and automation of data subject requests. Responsibilities also include implementing technical and process-related privacy controls, assess data repositories for privacy impacts, performs testing and debugging of privacy platform solutions including documenting procedures for installation, operations and maintenance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S degree in privacy engineering, computer science, computer engineering, information systems or related field of study
  • 10 or more years of experience in technical Data Privacy delivery or data analytics domain. Experience working in a regulated industry or consulting on privacy matters preferred
  • Prior relevant experience in data architecture
  • One or more professional certifications related to privacy such Certified Privacy Technologists (CIPT) or equivalent (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
  • Experience identifying applicable privacy requirements and implementing Privacy controls with a focus on data architecture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence both technical engineers and business leaders
  • Expertise in modern Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Database architecture, Data Collaboration Platforms, Database Design, Database programming (e.g. SQL or Python)
  • Working knowledge of continuous delivery/continuous integration practices
  • Experience with Relational (MSSQL), In memory (KDB), Hadoop, NoSQL, Columnar DB platforms, Cloud Databases and Analytics environments
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of modern software engineering practices
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of data structures and both structured and unstructured data repositories.

University - Bachelor's Degree/3-4 Year Degree
