POSITION SUMMARY The Process Control Engineer (PCE) is responsible for the effective in-process inspection of manufactured laminates, thermoplastics, specialty and other materials/products manufactured . The primary focus of the PCE is development, deployment, and maintenance of key inspection equipment used during continuous web handling and the processing of sheet materials. The PCE will function in various collaborative efforts (leader of project teams, member of project teams, and as individual contributor) to improve processes and product quality through the analysis and optimization of existing and/or new inspection methods.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Demonstrates Schneller values and shares the organizational commitment to ensuring quality products and processes. • Identifies, develops, implements, and maintains processes for continuous in-process inspections of films and sheet materials; identifies and advises of necessary equipment adjustments and continually monitors inspection equipment as assigned. • Responsible and accountable for the effective performance of in-process visual inspection, in-process beta gauge thickness, automated ink dispensing and other equipment that may be assigned. • Configures and maintains in-process defect classification, color databases, and other documentation related to in-process inspection processes and procedures. • Responsible for database integration for all new and existing process cycles ensuring system set-up for all manufacturing jobs. • Performs statistical evaluation of color matching and web/sheet inspection data. • Develops and generates custom reports through Wonderware Historian/Dream Reports or other reporting software as appropriate. • Ensures timely and effective documentation, notification and training of any effected team members on any new or changed procedures, processes, or systems; develops, writes and provides training in work methods, procedures, and work instructions. • Analyzes processes to identify and implement improvements to optimize processes and reduce scrap (continuous improvement of throughput and first-time quality). • Provides assistance regarding in-process inspection equipment design, modification, specification, procurement, installation, and follow-up to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. • Assists Quality team with evaluation of non-conformances related to the inspection systems 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline and >5 years related experience in an industrial environment, or, Associate degree in Engineering or other technical field and 5-10 years industry work experience, or, >10 years of extensive relevant industry experience without a degree. • >5 years of experience working with multi-step manufacturing processes. • Proven excellent problem solving, root cause identification, and troubleshooting skills. • Extensive collaborative interaction with Production, Tooling, Engineering, Quality and or/Maintenance groups. • >3 years of experience using data bases, Wonderware Historian/Dream Reports (or similar software). • Highly functional knowledge of the operation, control, and function of process equipment. • Ability to commission large scale equipment with limited direction, independently learning by observation, reading, and research and transferring knowledge to appropriate actions. • Demonstrated project management skills, including leading teams to meet critical deadlines within prescribed timeframes with a sense of urgency. • Strong independent decision-making ability with a high degree of skill to collaborate with and influence others to achieve objectives in a timely manner. • Effective communication skills to interact with all levels both internally (manufacturing floor to executive leadership) and externally (vendors and suppliers). • Desire and ability to be the subject-matter expert (gaining knowledge through experience, independent study, and participation in on- or off-site training) in process operations in order to maintain equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner to meet or exceed production requirements and achieve customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and quality products. • Willing and able to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor interacting with equipment and operations team members. • Willing to occasionally work outside of normal business hours, including some weekends/evenings/nights, and be available to address critical matters that may arise via phone or remote access. • Highly functional Microsoft Office skills and ability to quickly learn equipment software. • Knowledge of and ability to apply lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and cost reductions.
