Process Development Group Leader

As a key member of the R&D Process Technology team, the Process Development Group Leader will provide leadership and technical direction to support the technology and business/operations strategy. This includes the development of process improvement ideas and shepherding the projects through the Stage-Gate portfolio management process. The Process Development Technology Leader will play a key role in integration and coordination of critical process technology resources in delivering targeted benefits and results to the business contribution margin by working closely with members of the polyamide and small molecule chemistry groups, application technology, and commercial teams.

Targeted Outcomes

  • Develop and grow a capable process development technology team who can deliver a pipeline of value generation projects
  • Drive right first-time scale-up of new process technology
  • Lead the process technology growth and improvement programs to include execution of defined plans to deliver results

Key Responisbilities

  • Define process chemistry and unit operations for new processes for new and existing products
  • Develop process data for scale-up and plant design
  • Scope, design and build small scale process equipment in labs and pilot plants
  • Process development and piloting of Chemical Intermediates, Ammonium Sulfate and Resins
  • Preliminary process modeling and simulation
  • Interacts with polyamide chemistry, small molecule chemistry and applications technology groups
  • Maintain and improve the technology development process in an opportunistic environment
  • Lead, mentor and develop process technology team members IP creation and FTP input



Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 7 + years of chemicals or petro-chemicals R&D experience
  • 2 + years of direct team supervision or R&D administrative project leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams to deliver results via multiple complex technical programs
  • Demonstrated process development experience with design for Six Sigma experience a plus
